Frederick A. Hauber, M.D. P.A., is a board certified ophthalmologist and has served as the medical director for Pasco Eye Institute since 1982.
He specializes in cataract and refractive surgery and has a special interest in diabetic retinopathy. A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Hauber graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 1970 where he received a degree in microbiology and biophysics, he then went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Tennessee in 1974. He completed his internship and residency in ophthalmology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in 1982, where he now serves as an assistant clinical professor.
Dr. Hauber's research interests are in the areas of glaucoma filtration devices and intraocular lenses.
He is the first clinical investigator in the United States for the Optimed Glaucoma Pressure Regulator, which is a surgically implanted filtration device designed to facilitate intraocular pressure control.
He is also a contributor to the development of the Phoenix Laser which is used to correct nearsightedness and astigmatism using laser technology.
In April 1993, Dr. Hauber was awarded a patent for an intraocular achromatic lens. The lens is designed to correct color wavelengths on the retina, thus improving overall image quality for cataract patients. In February 1994, Dr. Hauber was named in the 1994-95 edition of the 'Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering' and 'Who's Who in the South and Southwest.'
His work in cataract and refractive surgery and glaucoma research has made him highly sought after as a consultant for corporate and research organizations and has garnered him speaking engagements at ophthalmic societies in Ireland, Japan, Korea, Spain, Austria, Germany and throughout the United States. In 1992, he was a guest of Professor Fyodorov at the Research and Technology Complex in Moscow where radial keratotomy surgery was first developed. Dr. Fyodorov has been featured on '60 Minutes' and is considered a great innovator in ophthalmology as well as the father of radial keratotomy
In 1989, Dr. Hauber co-founded the Pasco County Chapter of the American Diabetes Association and currently serves as that organization's Director of Professional Education. He also serves as a volunteer ophthalmologist for the Good Samaritan Clinic and the Human Development Center. He is a fellow of the Academy of Ophthalmology, American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Emergency Room Physicians. Other professional memberships include: American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Kerato-Refractive Society, Outpatient Surgical Society, Florida Medical Society and the Pasco County Medical Society.
Dr. Hauber lives in Crystal Beach with his 2 children.

Robert C. Urban, Jr., M.D. was born in New York. He graduated from Columbia University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts. He then went to Yale University School of Medicine and received his M.D. degree in 1987. Dr. Urban completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the Winthrop University Hospital in Minneola, New York in 1988. Dr. Urban then completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois, Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago, Illinois in 1991. He then went on to complete his fellowship in glaucoma at Harvard University in 1992.
Dr. Urban joined Pasco Eye Institute in mid 2003 to help provide the most advanced specialized care and treatment for our patient's who have glaucoma related problems.
Dr. Urban is an active member of the American Medical Association, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Tampa Bay Ophthalmologic Society, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the Chandler-Grant Society, the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists, and the American Glaucoma Society.
Dr. Urban lives in Oldsmar with his wife and three children.

We would like to welcome our new physician, Dr. Joshua Ki Hu.
Born and raised in the Tampa Bay area, Dr. Hu is returning to the area to practice ophthalmology.
He completed his undergraduate education at Yale University and received a B.A. with distinction in chemistry.
He continued on to the University of Florida College of Medicine to receive his M.D.
From there, he completed his internship at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana and he finished his residency in ophthalmology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
At the Vanderbilt Eye Institute, Dr. Hu trained under some of the leaders in the field of ophthalmology, and he is familiar with new technologies and advancements that have been made in this wonderful medical profession.
Dr. Hu comes from a well-known medical family.
His father is a local anesthesiologist, his uncle is a general surgeon, and his aunt is Chairman of Ophthalmology in Taiwan.
Dr. Hu is well qualified to evaluate, assess, and treat your eye care needs including, but not limited to: cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye exams, and dry eyes.

Dr. Kohlhepp's areas of expertise include macular degeneration and
treatment with Lucentis and Macugen therapy, diabetic retinopathy,
retinal detachments, macular holes and retinal blood vessel blockages.
Dr. Kohlhepp received her medical degree from the State University of
New York at Stony Brook. She completed her Internship at Winthrop
University Hospital, New York, and her Residency at Yeshiva University,
an affiliate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York.
Continuing her subspeciality training, Dr. Kohlhepp completed a
Fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery at the University of Nebraska,
Omaha. Dr. Kohlhepp is a member of the American Academy of
Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association and the Pasco County
Medical Society.

Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital in New York City. He completed
his Fellowship in strabismus & pediatric ophthalmology at Cullen
Eye Institute of the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, and
finished his Fellowship in Reconstructive & Aesthetic Oculoplastic
Surgery at Southeastern Oculoplastic Clinic, Atlanta, GA.Dr. Gross is
fully versed in the latest aesthetic surgical procedures including
blepharoplasty; the endoscopic brow lift and the small incisior cheek
